To all trainers and candidate Trainers of the World Association for Positive and Transcultural Psychotherapy

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

The annual International Trainer Seminar (ITS) is coming up.

On 24 and 25 November 2022, some 100-150 trainers and candidate trainers will meet online and have the opportunity to exchange experiences, ask questions, learn from each other, and to enjoy each other`s company. Of course, an in-person meeting would be much better, but due to the conditions in the world (war, pandemic, travel restrictions, economic situation etc.), we will meet this year again online. It will be the 23^rd ITS!

As you can see from the enclosed preliminary program, the timeframe for this edition will be mainly from 10:00-16:00 Berlin time, in order to enable our colleagues from Asia to attend, and at the same time to not be too tiring. The WAPP Committee for membership, governance and events has prepared the program, with the approval of the Board of directors. The main language will be English with translation in some other languages.

Please register as soon as possible and check the formats enclosed in the program, and volunteer as a speaker, moderator or group leader. We need some 40 trainers to take a function, and do not be shy to speak or to conduct a group. As trainers you should be used to that.

Program format:

The International Trainer Seminar (ITS) is consisting of two days, each day with specific structure.

We will highly value your involvement and contribution to the following sections of the schedule.

DAY 1, 24.11.2022

10:00 – 11:20 CET Roundtable "Challenges of a trainer in War and Post War society - How to live and work in a country with war and/or unjust society as PPT trainer and psychotherapist"

The roundtable format enables the assembly of all participants to contribute to the discussion.

Presentations will be held by 6 of our trainers, under the coordination of 2 moderators. Discussions to follow each presentation.

11:30-13:30 CET "Challenges of a trainer in War and Post War society - How to live and work in a country with war and/or unjust society as PPT trainer and psychotherapist".

The topics of the roundtable brought up for discussion with 2 moderators; the sharing of personal experiences of the participants is encouraged;

Sessions will take place in parallel groups, each group limited to 15 persons;

DAY 2, 25.11.2022

10:00 – 11:10 CET PLENARY: "Impact on mental health: challenging issues facing patients and trainees"

Suggested themes are climate change, education of children, developing a PPT trauma-therapy, developing a PPT child and youth psychotherapy, pandemic and post-covid consequences, prevention of transgenerational trauma, needs of a post-war world.

Short presentations on each subject.

11:30-13:00 CET Parallel workshops.

Subjects presented in the plenary to be discussed in depth inside parallel groups of work. Attendees will decide which group to join. Discussions will be overseen by the trainers that held the presentation on the respective topic during the plenary.

14:00-15:30 CET Parallel workshops.: Developing an Identity as a Positive Psychotherapy trainer - Exchange of experiences, challenges, difficult group situations, mistakes to avoid, etc.

Each group will be coordinated by two trainers as workshop leaders.
